Humans are made with the instinct to interact, communicate and co-relate things with other individuals. Â Living alone or in a close environment may lead to depression, mania, self-harm and even to suicidal tendencies. Â It can have a more profound effect on people with disabilities where they spend most of their time either alone or with a carer or a support worker at most.
Shared living is an innovative model for shared housing, where residents live together united over a common goal to create a more purposeful life.  By managing spaces, sharing resources and hosting activities together, residents are empowered to contribute to the surrounding community and the world at large, creating greater connections and happier lives.
People with disabilities are never on their journey alone–especially when they are in a group living arrangement.  Our team can help participants handle the responsibilities and challenges of these shared spaces.  Shared living arrangements are good solutions for NDIS participants who do not like to live on their own, instead preferring the company and companionship of roommates.  Shared living arrangements present participants with a great opportunity to enhance their social skills by meeting and befriending new people, and learning how to help each other live with independence.
Assisting with and/or supervising the tasks of daily life focuses on developing the skills of individuals to live as independently and autonomously as possible.  Support is provided for each person living in the arrangement in accordance with their needs.  This may include the participant’s living in the same household or in units or the participant’s living in a host family arrangement.
Generally, the arrangement will consist of a residential unit in which two or more people with comparable needs live together.  In addition to availing themselves of support provided by outside organizations, the residents help each other complete daily activities and share costs, developing lasting friendships along the way.
In this category, support revolves around helping NDIS participants prosper in a shared living environment, whether the arrangement is temporary or long term.  Participants will be supported and/or supervised as they complete day-to-day activities at home, helping them to live their lives as independently and autonomously as possible.  Short-term accommodation and assistance (for example, respite care) falls under the umbrella of this registration group.
So, if you or any of your loved ones need help enjoying the company of others in a shared living arrangement, you can trust us.
